INTRODUCTION
Mirra Alfassa (1878 –1973) was affectionately called as The Mother by her devotees, was a spiritual master and the founder of Sri Aurobindo Ashram. She was good at yoga and meditation and served with much affection and dedication to her Spiritual Guru Sri Aravindar. Both of them were considered as divine incarnations, since their nature were entirely different from other ordinary humans. They used to discuss only spiritual matters and concentrated their attention on leading the people to the spiritual path.
Mirra Alfassa was born in Paris in the year 1878 and after finishing her education she travelled throughout the world and finally settled in Pondicherry, along with her spiritual mentor Sri Aurobindo and his disciples. In 1943, she started a school in the Aurobindo ashram and in 1968 had established Auroville, a marvellous township free from caste, creed, gender, community and religion. She died in the year 1973 in Pondicherry.
Mirra was interested in various kinds of arts and was good at reading, writing and drawing pictures. She also wrote lot of works which mainly focuses on prayers and meditations. Still now she has got lot of followers, who are considering and worshipping her as the divine incarnation of Mata Parvati.
