BABA NAGNATH YOGESHWAR

INTRODUCTION

Baba Nagnath Yogeshwar was a Hindu saint, an ardent devotee of Lord Shiva, and also a staunch devotee of Mata Ganga, and considers himself as the son of the Holy Mother River Ganga, had observed fasting from 2008, by demanding to remove the pollution and to maintain cleanliness in River Ganga, but he died in a hospital at Varanasi in the year 2014.

The Baba was the pontiff of the Kashi Mahashamsan Peeth, situated at Manikarnika Ghat.

During his hunger strike, he was visited by many politicians and saints, and they had supported the movement and consoled him.

Sri Baba had sacrificed his entire life for the sake of Mata Ganga. His sacrifice cannot be forgotten by the devotees of Ma Ganga, and it is believed that he would have attained SALVATION due to his sincere bhakti on Lord Shiva and Mata Ganga.

During his life time, he has done many good activities, like providing food to the wandering hungry sadhus, attended Pujas at the Kashi Viswanath Temple, performed milk abhishekham to the Shiva Lingam and also performed Pujas to Ma Ganga.

It is very rare to see such kind of noble persons in this today’s selfish world. Baba Nagnath is a selfless person, and had willingly sacrificed his life for a good cause. The devotees of Kashi Vishwanath Temple feels, that if he could have remained alive for many years, then he could have achieved his ambition through the help of his well-wishers and the devotees of Lord Shiva.
