SANTHOSHI MATA STOTRA
INTRODUCTION
Santoshi Mata is believed to be the daughter of Lord Ganesa, and the popularity of her worship was gained during the 20th century AD. Ma Santoshi is also considered as a female aspect of Lord Ganesa, and she is also worshipped as Ma Ganesini by some of her devotees. Santoshi Mata is mainly worshipped by the Hindu women of North India. It is suggested a keep a laminated or a framed picture of Ma Santhosi in the households of all Hindus, in order to bring good fortunes to our homes.
There is an important stotra written in praise of Maa Santoshi, which must be specifically recited by her devotees during the time of observance of fasting days. Observing of fasting which is called as the Santoshi Maa vrata is being performed by the women for 16 consecutive Fridays in order to attain the grace of Ma Santoshi. After the release of the 1975 Bollywood film, Jai Santoshi Maa, the significance of worshipping Maa Santhoshi was spread throughout the country, and people began to consider her as one of their favourite worshipful goddess, and she is the one who gives abundant joy and wealth to her devotees. Though she is not mentioned in our Hindu Scriptures, yet, her name and fame is keep on increasing day by day, due to her divine features.
The contents contained in the Santhoshi Mata Stotra are as follows:-
You are beautifully dressed, oh our dear mother, with rich golden garments,
and you wore ornaments like emeralds and diamonds.
Oh our merciful mother, your face appears like a lotus flower,
And your smile reflects in all the worlds.
Oh our worshipful mother, You are seated on a golden throne,
and your devotees lit lamp on your shrine,
and holy Prasad items like honey and dry fruits are kept before you. Please accept our offerings and provide us with your sufficient grace.
Oh our pretty mother, your devotees chants your stotra with utmost joy and devotion on their mind,
which makes you to get satisfied with them,
and hence, kindly bless your devotees.
Friday is considered as your best day, and during that day, we would perform an excellent puja for you by reading your stories and also we would offer sweet items to you.
During the time of performance of puja, all of us would keep thinking only about you, we would bow our heads before you, and we would touch your lotus feet.
Please accept our worship,
which was done by us with great devotion
on you, and make our households fully filled up with full of
happiness and wealth.
Those who meditates sincerely on you,
would get fulfilled all of their desires, and they would attain great happiness for ever in their lives.
Oh the holy mother of the universe,
we honour you, admire your beauty, rejoice your importance, and we would sing lot of bhakti songs on you. Please permit us to dwell at your lotus feet, and make us to permanently stay at your holy abode, “MA SANTHOSHI LOKA”.
Those who sincerely worship and meditates on Ma Santhoshi, and those who observe fasting on Fridays and performs puja to her with full of devotion on their mind would get their wishes fulfilled, and their life would blossom like a lotus flower.
