Sri Dharma Sastha Bhujangam is believed to have been written by the great saint and the Advaita philosopher, Sri Adisankara, and in this Stotra, he has praised about the wonderful features of Sastha. He is also praised in the holy texts as “TATVAMASI”, which means the one who is the controller of the universe, and the one who contains excessive powers, and he can be considered equivalent to Lord Shiva. There are some temples dedicated for Dharma Sastha in Tamil Nadu, and also in some parts of South India. Mostly he can be seen along with his beautiful consorts who are the worshipful mother goddesses, Ma Poorana and Ma Pushkala, in the temples meant for him, and he is mainly worshipped to get rid from our sins, from mental related diseases and from enemy related problems like black magic etc.

After the completion of penance, both of them were hugged each other, and Lord Dharma Sastha enquired about the well-being of Lord Rama.

Lord Ayyappan who is a favourite god, especially for the Tamil Nadu and Kerala people, is a form of Lord Dharma Sastha. In order to remove the sufferings, troubles and turmoil of the people, Lord Dharma Sastha took the holy avatar of Lord Ayyappa and resides in the Sabari Mala.
