WORSHIP OF DEMI GODS

INTRODUCTION

Demi gods means minor deities. But they also contain more powers, and most of the demi gods are entitled to partake, their share of oblation received from the fire sacrifices. They are controlled by the main deities like Shiva-Shakti, Vishnu, Brahma, Muruga, Vinayaka and Dharma Shasta. Demi gods though they are considered as immortals, yet, they also have a certain restricted life time, but they would live for a long span of life period, that is, for about few lakhs of years!

Though Lord Surya is considered as Lord Surya Narayanan, but actually Lord Surya comes under the category of Navagrahas(Planets). Even Lord Surya has to obey the orders of Lord Brahma, since he is the one, who has created Lord Surya himself! Once when Lord Yama Dharma tried to invoke his Pasha weapon on Ravana, it was Lord Brahma, who had appeared before him and said, “Om Yama Dharma, now it is not the time to kill Ravana, hence don’t kill Ravana, since, as per my boon, he is supposed to be killed only in the hands of Lord Rama. I am the one, who has created you as well as your Pasha Weapon. Hence, be calm and hide yourself before Ravana”. After hearing that, Lord Yama Dharma disappeared!

Those who take the Viswaroopa Form (Divine Form) are said to be the major deities, like Vinayaka, Muruga, Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva-Shakti and Dharma Shasta. Demi Gods are created for a certain specific purpose such as undertaking certain tasks, and also for doing goodness to the humans. Among the demi gods, Lord Indra is considered as the chief demi god. He is giving various instructions to the other demi gods, and they are doing it properly. He is also controlling the 33 crores of devas, and helps them to discharge their functions easily and properly. He contains great powers, and he is capable of even granting boons to us.

The demi gods are created in order to discharge their allocated duties properly, and they are watching us in our every moment of life, and reporting it to the god, and giving us suitable results based on our good and bad deeds. They contain great super natural powers. Hence let us do only good things in our life, and live a peaceful and a sin free life and let us be blessed.
